Relevant Experience / Teaching Style: Currently, I specialize in teaching physics, chemistry and Math (A/E) for the O level students and Physics (H1, H2, H3) and Math (H1, H2) for the A level students. I had also done two groups of 'O' level revision on Physics and Chemistry respectively in a tuition center.

I desire the commitment from the students first, so I would always make an effort to meet up the parent and the student first before accepting the tuition officially. My purpose for meeting with the parent and the student is to have a better understanding the student's problems and reviewing the student's school work. I would usually confirm the rate after meeting the parent and the student.

For science, my teaching method is simple - break down the complex concept into small bits and relate the bits to daily experiences as much as possible. For maths, I will explain the bigger picture of the solution for the problem first and then focus on the relevant steps of getting the answer without the messy stuff. For individual tuition, I would usually make use of the student's school notes to teach them and add in things where I find it necessary. Because from my experience if extra notes (similar to their schools) are given, many students will feel that they are overloaded with repeated information and this tends to hamper their revision. I usually encourage my students to make as many mistakes as possible and ask as many questions as possible as to learn the subject. My students always learn more when they make the so called “silly mistakes” called by school teachers. In my personal views, the mistakes allow my students to learn better when I go through the mistakes with them. I would also assess the type of learners my student is and teach them how to enhance their skill.

I had being a freelance editor for Pearson Education South Asia Pte Ltd to edit two Physics Assessment books (Effective Guide to O level Physics by Poh Liong Yong and Effective Guide to A level Physics by Loo Kok Wai) and had also written the solutions for GCE ‘O’ Level Physics of 2008 and 2009 for Hillview Publication Pte Ltd.

My students, who are referral, are usually pretty slower learner who have not passed the subjects or related subjects or don't know how to study them. I had managed to improve their grade from fail to a B grade. There was an instance where I was engaged at the last moment of a student's O level examination and I helped the boy to improve his combined science (phy/chem) grade from D7 to B4 within 2 months.
