About Singapore Education
It must have been a bad year for Singapore private schools. I had a discussion with one of the private school owners that day. And he told me student enrolment this year is the lowest compared to previous years.
I believe most schools will not survive for another 1 or 2 years. There are reports that indicate 70% of private schools in Singapore will close down within the next 5 years. Of course, those big ones like Informatics will pump in more capital to survive. But the smaller ones will suffer.
With the introduction of Singapore Quality Class Award (SQC), Schools awarded with SQC will enjoy green lane when processing foreign students applications. Schools without such awards find it hard to compete then.
Students overseas have been saying that private schools here are charging too high, with many hidden cost that comes along with their school fees. In fact, Singapore Private Education Organisation (PEO) are having a tough time with overseas recruitment. And it may take a while to improve the situation.
